Cultural Services Foundation Degree
MLA East of England is working with Anglia Ruskin University to develop an employer-led Cultural Services Foundation Degree for museums, libraries and archives. The curriculum framework for the course is being developed through consultation with the sector and key stakeholders such as professional associations and sector skills councils. The project is being funded by MOVE (The Lifelong Learning Network for the East of England) and Foundation Degree Forward. The new qualification is due to be launched in September 2008. NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications)
MLA East of England is working with Further Education Colleges in the East of England to develop accredited assessment centres for Cultural Heritage and Library & Information NVQs and VRQs as well as support of the training of specialist assessors. Youth volunteering
MLA East of England is working with VYSER (Voluntary Youth Services for the Eastern Region) to explore how museums can increase the range of volunteering opportunities available to young people.
Traditional Skills
MLA East of England recently commissioned a research and evidence report into the position of traditional skills in museums, libraries and archives in the region. The findings of the report are being considered by the East of England Historic Environment Forum.Skills sharing and professional development
