Museums, libraries and archives promoting health and well-being
MLA East of England has been exploring the links between museums, libraries and archives and health and social care. We started this work in response to the pubication of the MLA report New Directions in Social Policy, which looked at the contribution of our sector to key social poligy agendas, and an identified interest across the region in linking with health partners. Our work to date has included the research and development of:
- A Learning and Access Partnership Directory for our sector which includes a list of possible health partners
- A Regional Health Activity Report 2006 - directory of around 30 case studies mapping current activity undertaken by museums, libraries and archives in the region relating to health
- A comprehensive report Exploring Opportunities for Engaging with Health and Social Care Agendas which provides an overview of the healt and social care sector and outlines the contribution of museums, libraries and archives and future opportunities
