The East of England is in for a spectacular array of exotic cultural treats this summer, it was revealed today by Museums, Libraries, Archives (MLA) East of England.
Chinese warriors, painted scrolls, dragon boats and shadow puppets, New Year celebrations and ribbon dancing, jade, silk, acrobats and story-tellers – the region-wide cultural programme includes exhibitions, festivals and plenty of family-orientated fun. Highlights include The Nanjing Little Red Flowers, some of China’s most talented performing artists aged 6 to 12 years, the Yangzhou Puppet Company, and the Guardians to the King exhibition of terracotta treasures from Ancient China. There are plenty of opportunities to get really hands-on with activities from making dragon masks, puppets, fans or your own terracotta figure, to learning Chinese circus skills.
